Jelly Sandwich Manicure

E.L.F. "Lilac"
NYC "Starry Silver Glitter"

This was my first attempt at a Jelly Sandwich.  It didn't go over very well.  If anyone has any suggestions for me I would gladly appreciate them.  Maybe I didn't use an opaque enough base color, or maybe my glitter wasn't big enough, I can't figure it out.  I was almost not going to post this but I decided to just do it.  Good or bad, I figured maybe I can get so helpful hints out of it.  Anyway this lilac color from E.L.F. is the ABSOLUTE prettiest lilac I have seen so far.  It goes really well, I think with my skin color.  Also forgive my smeared middle finger nail.  My 1 year old woke and I thought my nails were completely dry but I forget, they are never completely dry when I think they are.  Before you go check out my giveaway page.  Just send a quick email with your favorite summer manicure attached to enter into the Summer Giveaway.   Thanks for visiting!!

  3. Thanks!!! Lol I guess because it doesn't look like other jelly manicures I have seen. They look like the glitter is kind of floating or suspended. I don't think my mani captured that too well. I think next time I'll use a clear top coat and maybe a couple more coats of glitter. Have you ladies tried it? I have seen some really awesome sandwiches. I'm going to try it again with another combination. If you try it send me an email and I'll post here, I'd love to see how it comes out :)

  4. Is the lilac a jelly polish? I can't really tell.

  5. The lilac is a cream but the NYC is a jelly glitter.

  6. Wait I take that back, the lilac is a jelly. It's pretty sheer, I needed 2 thick coats to get it mostly opaque. That constitutes a jelly right? I'm confused lol.

  7. I'm not sure! Hahaha. I have a glitter polish in a jelly base. And it's like a tinted clear polish. Looks cool. I'm not really sure what constitutes jelly. I figure it looks like jelly! Hehehe

  8. I just started researching the difference. Laquerized Blog has a good post on it - www.laquerized.com on the right there is a post called 25 different finishes. I tried to paste the link but it's not letting me at the moment. What do you think? Her posts are awesome.

  10. Yeah, you really need to use a jelly or a neon to get the glitter suspension looking right. I never knew what a jelly was for sure until I accidentally bought one and fell in love! Wet 'n' Wild's Fuchsiarama and China Glaze's Ride the Waves are two really pretty ones :)

  11. This is really pretty, but i wouldn't consider it a Jelly sandwich. The OPI texas collection i think are all jelly's and revlon royal is as well.

    1. Can you tell me the steps to get it right? And also what I need. I thought it was just a jelly and a glitter polish to achieve the look. Then I thought its 1 coat of the jelly then a coat of glitter and 1 last coat of jelly & a topcoat. Please direct me because I think it's such a pretty manicure.
