School Girl Nails

I've been wanting to try doing a plaid pattern on my nail for a while now so when I found my old uniform at my dad's house I took a picture of the skirt.  Free-handing this was harder than I though.  I thought about using tape when I began but that would have doubled the time I already don't have enough of.  I do actually kind of like how the lines aren't too straight.  The only thing that kind of got me was I began with doing a base of green/blue/green/blue lines, but I wound up accidentally washing out the base pattern, so the base appears to be all blue.  I still think it's pretty cool and I'm planning on a cute Christmas colored plaid when that season rolls around.  I used all Sinful Colors polishes with the exception of the black.  Thanks for stopping by!!

I was teaching my son how to write his name today when I had the idea to re-create it on my nails.  Every mom should do this, Joshua has been getting a kick out of this all day.  It also made me wonder why pre-school writing paper was brownish and not just white.  Anyway this was a really easy cute manicure.  Mostly just some lines and a steady hand.  The thumb was pretty easy as well.  I used 1 piece of tape to make the yellow bottom half of the pencil as straight as I can.  It didn't really matter if I messed up on the pencil or eraser because I was going to go over both with the Metallic color.  Try it!  I have the Summer Giveaway gift all ready to go, I just have to take pictures of it.  It's been busy at work for me with the July 4th holiday but I'll get the pictures up tomorrow.  Thanks for visiting!!

Rite Aid Nail Extravaganza

Inspired by Nailside

I'm so excited to have submitted my nail art to the Rite Aid Nail Extravaganza contest.  Today is the last day to submit.  I believe they will choose the top 10, then the public will vote for a winner beginning June 12th.  There are hundreds of really good submissions.  My manicure for this entry was inspired by blogger Nailside's - Explosion tape manicure.  Her work is so awesome & I finally, with much practice was able to figure out the tape placement for the explosion.  I did have to use Seche Vite in between each layer of polish because of time restrictions with my boys but I was able to get it all out neatly.  Also since I had that layer of Seche Vite in between, wherever there was a mistake I was able to take my tiny paint brush with acetone and quickly fix it without ruining the rest of the application.  It was pretty fun to do & was inspirational for other manicures I plan on doing.  I used Revlon's - Metallic, Santee's - Black & China Glaze's - Pretty in Pink.  Thanks for visiting!!
